Today we once again hosted headteachers taking part in the Strategic Leadership of ICT (SLICT) programme from the NCSL (National College for School Leadership). This will be about the 3rd year in a row we have hosted for the event. We had seven visitors with us this morning from different schools around the UK. We are always happy to welcome colleagues to our school, so that maybe they can learn from our experiences.
Much of today’s talk was centred on our development, over the last 3 years, of interactive whiteboards in each classroom and what strategic lessons we have learned from that process. But we did also begin to explore the “next big thing” – and we discussed how new technologies will be making an impact on what the future curriculum will look like.
I did give out this blog address, so if there are any of today’s visitors reading this I do hope that all went well with the rest of the day and the very best of luck with your future ICT plans.

We are pleased to be hosting this leadership course next week. The school will be visited by a group of school leaders from across the region to explore the ways we have worked with ICT at Priestsic. The course has been very enjoyable in the past and we look forward to meeting some more colleagues

Today was another opportunity for us to welcome headteachers from around the UK to our school and to talk strategically about our use and implementation of ICT, via the NCSL SLICT programme. We had five colleagues from Birmingham, North and South Leicestershire, Milton Keynes and London.
It was exciting to be able to talk about blogging

We have just recently had confirmation of another SLICT host day to be held at school. We will be welcoming colleagues on the 31st January. We don’t get any real feedback in terms of what we provide – but I suppose the fact they ask us to host again is the best feedback of all!

Hi Ewan,
I know it is a cumbersome phrase, but we were talking about IWBs and how many schools had invested heavily in the technology (including mine) – and so we were just exploring if a similar technology in the near future could have a similar impact.
My response to the headteacher’s question was about two aspects – curriculum change and personal technology. The former I think will be more important than any technology development, although the curriculum should hopefully embrace the online tech developments. The latter, I referred to how children are using more personalised technology that we probably do not make the most of, such as mobile phones etc.
Should be an interesting time to see how these two aspects emerge.

“The next big thing”? What did you guys consider as the next big thing? I’m really keen to know what leadership considers ‘new’ when things change so quickly.
