  2. These infographics are very pretty an’ all, but what of the visual misrepresentation of data in the graphs? The ‘number of articles’ graph troubles me the most – the layered triangles might add media-friendly pizazz, but they offer no benefit over a standard bar chart in representing the data; in fact, I would argue the data is misrepresented because the chart invokes a subconscious comparison of the area of the triangles rather than purely their vertical height. I don’t think we should be encouraging this – especially not in the classroom!

    the average age of an editor is 26.8 years. 87% of editors are male. A significant portion of them live in the U.S. and Europe.

    The number of editors has flatlined.

    According to the Palo Alto Research Center, the contributions of casual and new contributors are being reversed at a much greater rate than several years ago.
