During BETT 2010 we, the teachers, tookover commercial stands to talk about free tools for the classroom. Here is rare footage of me in the wild (!) presenting about “Why I think every primary classroom should be using Voicethread.”

Here is the Interesting Ways doc for Voicethread. A big thankyou to everyone at BrainPOP UK for letting me takeover their stand and for sharing the video footage.

  1. Hi Tom, really interesting presentation and the software looks incredible the kids would get so much out of it. I am in my teacher training year and my class has just finished a project on newspapers which I would love to display on voicethread and get the kids to comment on each others work. In talking to my IT guru at school before he gives the tool the al clear he just wants to make sure that a safe environment can be set up for the kids. Wil I have to upgrade to the education version or is the free version that you use secure? Thanks for all the ideas and creativity it is sometimes difficult just to know where to start!

  2. I'm sure but we are not allowed to use it. Or anything like it. A complete block at county level and they are not prepared to discuss it. It's the VLE or nothing argument.

  4. I hadn't heard of VoiceThread. Watched some of their video presentation via the link in your post, and then watched your embedded video. Very informative. You're obviously enthusiastic about this. I like the point you made re PDFs and the opportunity for the class to highlight and comment on parts of the text. I'm not a teacher, but working in IT and keen to get my son's school to use more technology like this, Google Docs, etc. Keep up the good work 🙂
